Mark Doty

 

Mark Doty is the author of seven book of poems, most recently School of the Arts, which was published by HarperCollins in 2005. A new prose book Dog Years will appear in 2007; it includes a chapter set in San Miguel de Allende. His poetry and prose have been honored by the National Book Critics Circle Award, the T.S. Eliot Prize, a Whiting Writers Award, the PEN/Martha Albrand Award for Nonfiction, and the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. A recipient of fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts, he teaches in the graduate writing program at the University of Houston, and lives in Houston and New York City. In January 2007, he will make his third visit to the San Miguel Poetry Week.
