Cornelius Eady
Cornelius Eady is the author of several poetry
collections, including Brutal Imagination; The
Autobiography of a Jukebox; You Don't Miss Your
Water; The Gathering of My Name, a Pulitzer Prize
nominee; Victims of the Latest Dance Craze, which was
the Lamont Poetry Selection of The Academy of American
Poets; and Kartunes. Eady's honors include the
Prairie Schooner Strousse Award and fellowships from the
Guggenheim Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts,
the Rockefeller Foundation, and the Lila Wallace Reader's
Digest Foundation. With Toi Derricotte he co-founded Cave
Canem, which offers a safe supportive setting for
African-American poets. Eady's play Running Man is a
finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and was awarded a 1999 Obie.
Eady is currently a nominee for the National Book Award and
a writer-in-residence at the City College of New York.
